Ephesus and Patmos 7/29

Located in Selcuk, Turkey, Ephesus, was established as a prominent port due to its strategic location. The city served as an important center for travel, cultural exchange, and commerce and is known for its stunning architecture. The city was home to the Temple of Artemis, which was revered as one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World. The magnificent archaeological site is one of the best preserved sites from antiquity and includes incredible structures such as the Library of Celsus.

While Ephesus highlights the influence of Greece on Asia Minor and Rome, Patmos exemplifies Greece’s important place in Christian history. The gorgeous island of Patmos has incredible beaches varying from secludes coves, to populated tourist hubs. Traditional Greek villages are scattered throughout the island but perhaps most interesting are the monasteries. The Monastery of the Revelation, as well as the Monastery of St. John are some of the most famous of Patmos’ monasteries and are a must-see for tourists.
